No Power ?
First of all,for all external drives check that no one has messed with the power cord or try plugging it to another power cord.If you still assume you have power, check the surge protector or the cord for any damage.Another of checking is to plug into the cord a few times on the other hand if it still doesn't work, you will need to replace the cord or the drive its self.
Wires Loosen
Make the the wires are properly plugged it tightly to the drive and the cord or it may not work because if you have loosen wires, the drive will be getting enough power to accelerate. This issue happens all the time with all different devices so beware.
